The convention on certain conventional weapons

Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects is also usually referred to as the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons Convention, or the «Inhumane» Weapons Convention (CCW).
There are five Protocols to the CCW:

  1. Protocol I. The Protocol on Undetectable Fragments;
  2. Protocol II. Mines, Booby-traps, other devices; Amended Protocol II.
  3. Protocol III. Incendiary Weapons;
  4. Protocol IV. Blinding Laser Weapons;
  5. Protocol IV. Explosive remnants of war.

In February 2009 the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Law on ratification of the Convention and its I, III and IV Protocols. The Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons currently has a total of 114 States Parties and five signatories.
