The conference on disarmamant

The Conference on Disarmament (CD) was established in 1979 as a result of the first Special Session of the General Assembly on Disarmament held a year earlier in New York. It is a single multilateral negotiating forum comprising of 65 member States.

Kazakhstan joined the CD in August, 1999.

Since May 2011 Mr. Kassym-Jomart TOKAYEV of Kazakhstan is the Secretary General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of UN Secretary-General to the Conference on Disarmament.
